A Musical Christmas Journey Between Palm Trees and Andean Peaks

While we associate snow and the scent of fir trees with Christmas, in many countries around the world, the sun shines. With her program "Christmas in the Sun," Jessie Ann De Angelo takes the audience on a musical journey to places where Christmas sounds different – vibrant, rhythmic, and full of joy. The journey leads to Mexico, the Caribbean, Puerto Rico, the island of Martinique, the Andes of Peru, and even to Hawaii. There, Christmas is not celebrated by the fireplace, but on the streets, at the beach, or in the mountains – with guitars, drums, and lots of singing.

Whether it's Mexican holiday songs at 30 degrees in the shade, the Caribbean Asalto with surprising musical visits, the traditional Chanté Noël in Martinique, or Christmas sounds from the Andes – one thing is central everywhere: music, community, and joy. "Christmas in the Sun" combines well-known Christmas melodies with Latin American rhythms and tells of traditions that show: Christmas is a celebration of birth, encounter, and emotion – regardless of the climate.
