In the concert and cabaret evening "Death of a Poodle," classical music and comedy meet in the form of star mezzo-soprano Angelika Kirchschlager, cult cabaret artist Alfred Dorfer, and celebrated pianist Florian Krumpöck on stage. At first glance, the composers listed in the program, such as Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Brahms, Mahler, and Korngold, promise a very "classical" evening – but not at all! On this satirical ghost ride, the search is on for the comedy in classical music, especially the unintentional kind. With songs spanning music history – not least, of course, Beethoven's titular "Elegy on the Death of a Poodle" – and quirky anecdotes from the artists' dressing rooms around the world, Kirchschlager, Dorfer, and Krumpöck entertainingly and with subtle humor strip classical music of its pretentiousness.
