Together with an international fashion show and a book presentation of "bluten," it forms a curated overall concept that addresses pressing questions of our time: climate crisis, gender relations, body politics, and social change. The opening will take place in the presence of Mayor Ines Schiller and Museum Director Dr. Herta Neiß. The fashion show will be hosted by Uli Loskot from the collective Frauen und Natur.
Conceived and organized by the collective Frauen und Natur, consisting of Uli Loskot, Gabriele Scheutz, and Qing Yue, the project creates a cultural connection between Austria and Italy and brings together positions from art, fashion, and literature. Artists from Austria, Italy, Scotland, and the USA engage in a multifaceted dialogue that intertwines ecological and social issues.
At the center is the realization that climate change is not gender-neutral. Women are particularly affected worldwide and are also key players in developing alternatives, protecting habitats, and driving social change. Nevertheless, their perspectives often remain marginalized. This is precisely where the project intervenes.
The deliberately provocative title serves as a programmatic framework for all three formats – exhibition, fashion show, and book presentation: It calls for shedding passivity, questioning societal role models, and focusing on what is essential. "Strip down" thus becomes a metaphor for reduction, exposure, and transformation.
The exhibition brings together works from painting, photography, video, installation, music, sculpture, ceramics, and fashion. The participating artists – including Giuliana Balbi, Raffaella Busdon, Luisa Fortuny & MariaSofia Segato Team, Elke Groen, Cornelia Hefel, Kir Lamont, Ulrike Magritzer, Roberta Morzetti, Donna E. Price, Qing Yue, Gabriele Scheutz & the Gabies, Ingrid Schreyer, Gabriele Schuller, Ronja Vogl, and Gloria Zoitl – navigate between warning and irony, fragility and resistance.
The accompanying international fashion show at the opening expands this discourse into the realm of applied arts. Fashion is understood here as an expression of attitude, resource management, and identity. Works from the fashion school Ebensee, Alma Luna, Giuliana Balbi, Luisa Fortuny & MariaSofia Segato Team, Gabriele Scheutz & the Gabies, Pro Mente Salzkammergut, and Qing Yue will be presented.
