Norbert Pümpel presents mainly works from recent years in this exhibition. With the Nympheas – Images of War, Pümpel expresses his dismay over the outbreak of the Ukraine war. In predominantly dark pictorial spaces, floral-like forms or suggested flower buds appear, not as naturalistic representations, but as charged symbols between morbid decay, fragility, and the latent possibility of blossoming.
The Lamentations also elude a one-dimensional interpretation; they depict flowers without reference to a botanical reality, rather they convey feelings and moods, serving as a testament to a holistic aesthetics that considers anesthetics as well. Between poetic reduction and compelling clarity, these works are a testament to a "subversive power of the aesthetic," as Pümpel himself states.
The opening of the exhibition will take place on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 7:00 PM.
