Excursion to the Barchan Festival in Jemnice (CZ)

The Zukunftsraum Thayaland cordially invites you to an excursion to the Czech town of Jemnice as part of the cross-border project Sala Cultura CZONA, where one of the oldest historical folk festivals in Central Europe – the traditional Barchan Festival – takes place. All program points will be continuously interpreted into German.

Individual travel to Jemnice, meeting point is at 10 a.m. (exact meeting point to follow)
After a short city tour and an exclusive guided tour of the newly opened museum in Jemnice in May 2026, a joint lunch is on the agenda (free of charge).
Following this, the colorful festivities of the Barchan Festival begin, which captivates young and old alike with a wealth of highlights. Historical parades and markets with traditional craft stalls, medieval music, dance and theater performances, as well as spectacular displays by falconers, jugglers, and sword fighters bring the Middle Ages to life. Family-friendly offerings such as pony rides, hands-on workshops, and a lovingly designed children's area ensure entertainment for the little guests.
The grand finale consists of evening concerts and dance events in the open air.
The excursion offers a wonderful opportunity to experience the cultural diversity and history of the region while also establishing new cross-border contacts.
