The South Tyrolean Vocal Ensemble

Founded in 1986, the South Tyrolean Vocal Ensemble has always aimed to perform demanding choral music from various musical eras. The ensemble can look back on an active concert schedule, particularly in South Tyrol. The singers, some of whom are choir directors, music or singing teachers, come from all parts of South Tyrol. Highlights of the concert activities in the past twelve months include the performance of A. Dvořak's "Stabat Mater" at the Cologne Philharmonic in March 2025 and its reprise in Brixen and Trento with the Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano and Trento as part of the "Festival Musica Sacra." In 2026, an a cappella concert as part of the "South Tyrol Festival Merano" will be the focus of the choir's concert activities. Since September 2025, the artistic director has been Prof. Johann van der Sandt.
