Plot
Scotland, 16th century.
There is a bitter feud between the Catholic nobles of the Ravenswood family and the Protestant Aston family. However, Lucia and Edgardo have fallen in love despite all the enmity. When Lucia's brother Enrico discovers this, he forges a letter that accuses Edgardo of infidelity and forces his sister into a marriage with Lord Arturo Bucklaw. When Edgardo bursts into the wedding and curses Lucia, everyone is horrified. In the bridal chamber, Lucia kills Arturo with a knife. Delusions overcome her. When a bell announces her death, Edgardo stabs himself.
