Opening of the Summer Symposium TEXTILE CULTURE HASLACH 2026

It revolves around current questions regarding overproduction and recycling, questioning the handling of fast fashion and production waste from the textile industry, and placing ideas at the center that regard waste as a valuable resource.

In two exhibitions, various facets of this extensive topic are highlighted. The exhibition "MIST! Rethinking Textile Waste!" in the special exhibition room of the Textile Center Haslach explains the background of different types of textile waste, conveys innovative recycling ideas, and provides forward-looking examples of contemporary design that demonstrate how residual materials can be transformed into valuable raw materials.

In the second exhibition "TWIST - Art from Waste," free, experimental works are presented across the eight floors of the Haslach church tower, utilizing various textile waste materials to formulate independent expressions and artistic statements. In addition to works by invited international artists, contributions from students of the Art University Linz and other educational institutions will also be showcased, offering a young, fresh perspective on the topic and making visible new potentials and meanings for resources that often seem useless.
