Foot Pilgrimage to the Filzmoos Child

The Filzmoos Child, one of the few remaining pilgrimage sites dedicated to the Christ Child, hangs as the centerpiece of the church in a golden halo above the high altar. The richly embroidered "Gnadenröckl" is changed according to the time of year: golden for Christmas, white for Easter, red for Pentecost, and throughout the year.

The church was first documented as a pilgrimage church in 1507. Even today, pilgrims from all over the world come to draw strength from the Christ Child and to find healing and salvation from their troubles.

On the first Sunday of October, pilgrims from Annaberg and Lungötz gather and walk over the "Sattel" to Neuberg, and from there continue along the road to Filzmoos, where a joint mass is celebrated. Return is individual. Here is the link to the blog post about the pilgrimage for further inspiration.
