Gottfried & Concentus Musicus Vienna

On Good Friday, April 11, 1727, the world premiere of Johann Sebastian Bach's St. Matthew Passion took place at the St. Thomas Church in Leipzig. 300 years later, Stefan Gottfried and the Concentus Musicus Wien commemorate this historic moment. Alongside the Singing Society of the Society of Music Friends in Vienna, a soloist ensemble takes the stage that leaves nothing to be desired: In addition to Florian Boesch, Sabine Devieilhe, and Gerald Finley, the lyrical tenor Werner Güra will perform as the Evangelist, while the tenor and alto parts will be taken on by two exciting young talents, Kai Kluge and Anja Mittermüller.
