Nazareth rose from performing in pubs, clubs, and dance halls in their Scottish homeland to become one of the most successful rock bands in the world. They were pioneers who made Scottish rock internationally known, paving the way for many other great Scottish bands like Simple Minds, Texas, Big Country, Del Amitri, and others. The original four members first came together in 1968 in Pete Agnew's band "The Shadettes," changed their name to "Nazareth" in 1970, and subsequently recorded a number of worldwide hits. Since the early 1970s, the band has continuously written new music up to the present day, and their repertoire includes hits from five decades. Songs like "Broken Down Angel," "Bad Bad Boy," "Turn On Your Receiver," and "My White Bicycle" shaped the international charts, as did the mega-hits "Dream On," "This Flight Tonight," "Hair Of The Dog," and of course, "Love Hurts." The band has not only built a massive fan base but has also influenced numerous significant artists—some have even covered Nazareth songs (including Guns N’ Roses with "Hair Of The Dog" and Metallica with "Please Don’t Judas Me"). While they gratefully accept recognition for their studio recordings, Nazareth attributes their success primarily to one thing: touring, touring, and more touring—and they continue to be on the road with no intention of ever stopping. The lineup includes: PETE AGNEW (bass and original founding member), JIMMY MURRISON (longest-serving guitarist in Nazareth's history), LEE AGNEW (drums since Darrel Sweet’s death in 1999), GIANNI PONTILLO (vocals since 2026).
