Obernathal 2, 4694 Ohlsdorf

Martin Schwab | Reading
Eva-Maria Voigtländer | Adaptation

"The cold is within me, so it doesn't matter where I go..." (Thomas Bernhard)

A fictional place in Upper Austria, the enchanted-cursed Castle Hochgobernitz, serves as the setting for the second part of the novel "Disturbance," the manic monologue of the castle lord, Prince Saurau. The novel, published in 1967, was originally supposed to be titled "The Brain." The core of the work, the prince's monologue, would have justified this title. In his castle, where he radically distances himself from the politically and spiritually decaying surroundings, he reflects on his existence.

Martin Schwab, known for many years as a congenial interpreter of Bernhard on the stage of the Vienna Burgtheater and at the Salzkammergut Festival Weeks in Gmunden, takes on this sprawling, truly disturbing text, monologuing, reciting, and reading.

Adaptation: Eva-Maria Voigtländer
