For the 125th anniversary of Dornbirn's city elevation, the city museum is showcasing portraits of 125 people from Dornbirn. They share with us their favorite heirloom and tell a brief story about its history. The large-format photos will be displayed on the facade and around the building at Marktplatz 11. They make the history of Dornbirn visible as a succession of generations and inheritances.
Everyone makes "city history"
The organic farmer Gertrud Baumgartner was among the first to be portrayed. She came with a pot of fresh soil and said, "Everything I could build comes from this soil." Marco Hamida brought a teapot with fresh mint. His father was a Moroccan occupation soldier. Lena Schwärzler cherishes the collector's cup of her grandmother, who passed away at a ripe old age, and professional footballer Bekem Bicki is proud of his grandfather's signet ring, who brought Turkish food to Dornbirn.

With the exhibition "125 Heirlooms," the city museum emphasizes its position as a museum for all Dornbirners and aims to strengthen the diversity and sense of belonging within the city community. 125 years of the city are not abstract; they represent many generations of people. Some have just arrived, while others have had their grandparents and great-grandparents living in Dornbirn.
