The poet, satirist, and journalist Heinrich Heine is considered one of the most important thinkers of the 19th century, whose numerous poems had a significant influence on music history—many composers set his texts to music, including Franz Liszt, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Robert Schumann, and Franz Schubert. While speaker Maren Ulrich reads excerpts from various prose works by Heine, baritone Konstantin Krimmel lends his voice to selected Heine songs. As a member of the Bavarian State Opera, he recently celebrated a fantastic success not only as Don Giovanni. His lyrical, agile, yet rich and colorful baritone makes him an ideal song singer, captivating the audience with the highest technical brilliance and nuanced interpretation of the text. He is brilliantly accompanied on the piano by the Israeli-South African pianist Ammiel Bushakevitz.
