Clarinetist Daniel Ottensamer and cellist Stephan Koncz are not only members of the Vienna and Berlin Philharmonics, respectively; they also share a passion for chamber music. Together with pianist Christoph Traxler, the musicians have joined forces to bring Beethoven's famously notorious "Gassenhauer Trio" to the stage. In the third movement, Beethoven incorporated a melody from the opera L’amor marinaro by composer Joseph Weigl, which became a genuine hit after its premiere in 1797, widely known and heard. The program is completed with additional compositions for clarinet, cello, and piano by composers such as Max Bruch, Italian film music composer Nino Rota, Arvo Pärt, and Vincent d’Indy.
