Christmas Concert - Salzkammergut Festival Weeks Gmunden

Idea and Concept: Franz Welser-Möst & Rafael Fingerlos

Following the great successes of recent years (2022-2025), the Christmas concert will once again be held this year as part of the Hausmusik Roas, which is based on an idea by Franz Welser-Möst. Rafael Fingerlos is once again developing an atmospheric program in which authentic folk music meets promising talents from the classical music scene. Familiar Christmas carols will be performed in new arrangements, blending with classical masterpieces.

In the parish church of St. Nicholas in Bad Ischl, this concert unfolds a special effect. The historically significant space, shaped by imperial tradition, spiritual depth, and a rich musical past, provides a dignified setting for this celebration of sound. Amidst historical architecture, artistic frescoes, and impressive acoustics, a charming place of encounter is created between folk music and classical music, between reflection and festive brilliance.

The concert will again be recorded live in front of an audience and broadcast as the ORF III Christmas concert in the series "Erlebnis Bühne" on December 25, 2026.
