Born in 1964, rooted in Mannersdorf – a place of residence to this day.

The path to painting arose from a lack – and became a necessity: After a renovation of his apartment, the search for suitable artworks remained unfulfilled. High-quality art was beyond financial means. At the age of 44, Franz Wurm therefore began his own creative journey – intuitively, searching, shaped by the principle of "Trial and Error."
From initial attempts, a distinctive visual language developed. Resonance from his surroundings led to his first exhibition in the "Brucker Erbse" in 2008 – an impulse that firmly established his artistic work.
The early works were characterized by large-format, monochromatic portraits. A turning point followed in 2011: Engagement with contemporary surrealism opened new avenues. Since then, the human figure has been at the center – in search of meaning, surrounded by chaos, fragments, and absurdity. Step by step, a unique style emerged.

The exhibition opening on May 1 will feature a BAXA grill, fine pastries in the BAXA PopUp Café, and wine from the Böheim winery in Arbesthal.

The proceeds from the event will benefit the new staircase leading to the BAXA Lime Kiln and Stone Quarry Museum.
