The highly acclaimed and internationally composed Salsa band musically follows the trails of Son Cubano, Guaracha, Rumba Guaguanco, and Afro-Latin Jazz. The concentrated joy of life from an entire continent, along with its associated groove, becomes palpable and experiential. The sparkling energy of this music leaves no one calm— a hot Salsa evening that will be remembered for a long time is guaranteed.
The percussionist Ismael Barrios, originally from Venezuela, grew up with the music of his homeland. His first instrument was the Cuatro, a four-string Venezuelan guitar. After studying classical guitar in Austria, his passion for percussion took hold. Barrios, who is also a passionate cook, cyclist, and family man, has added the percussive spice to various artists including Martin Grubinger, Papermoon, OPUS, S.T.S., Markus Schirmer's SCURDIA, Alegre Corrêa, Ripoff Raskolnikov, the Camerata Salzburg, and his own band Salsa Explosion. Ismael Barrios teaches at the University of Music in Vienna and Graz.
Mandacaru
Since January 2025, Mandacaru has been playing Forró together—a lively music style from the northeast of Brazil. Delicate melodies and pulsating rhythms create a special atmosphere. Carried by lightness and joy, one becomes part of this musical celebration, which encourages dancing.
