Fortress Tours Landau – Part 4: Water Defense Systems & Lock System

A special masterpiece of the Fortress Landau was its sophisticated water defense systems. Flood basins, battlements, inner and outer fortress moats, as well as a refined lock system allowed for targeted flooding of the moats to protect the city. Large parts of these impressive water constructions have been preserved to this day. During the tour, a vivid explanation will be given on how this extraordinary defense system functioned.

The tour is barrier-free.
