The Alvensleben tunnel in Burglahr, a mining gem, is a water drainage tunnel of the Louise mine that was built from 1835 to 1864. It was named after Albrecht Graf von Alvensleben (former Prussian Minister of Finance).
On the straight stretch of a total of 1546 meters, with 400 m accessible to visitors, one can experience a piece of history: There are guiding posts, surveying boards that documented the construction progress, and evidence of later blasting work with black powder.
