A Journey Through Time - From Youth to Age Through the Middle Ages

Right through the Ulmen Maar Tunnel, through millions of years old sediments: Experience exciting stories of the Earth's primal forces, the formation of the Vulkaneifel, and especially about Germany's youngest volcano, the Ulmen Maar, on the journey from "old to young." In a unique location beneath the A48 motorway, you will see not only traces of medieval tunnel construction but also remnants of vegetation from thousands of years ago. It is equally fascinating to learn why the tunnel was dug in the first place and how the water supply for Ulmen used to work and still works today. The hike around the Ulmen Maar and the stop at the old waterworks complete the tour. Please wear sturdy footwear. Warm clothing is recommended.
