The Pulvermaar is the largest "eye of the Eifel", the largest Maarsee. And at the same time the still steepest and deepest Maar crater that the Eifel has to offer. In it a lake with crystal clear water, which collected there during the last ice age. In it fish and plants, divers and a submarine. The Pulvermaar has seen Neanderthals & reindeer hunters, Celts & Romans, Franks & French. Witness to 20,000 years of history. On its shores, a film was shot as if the volcano would erupt again: What is true, what is fiction? What happened to the land when the volcano erupted? How did people experience these eruptions at that time? What is to be feared in the future? These and other questions can be asked on the guided walk. It starts on the crater wall of Pulvermaar and leads a piece along the edge of the lake (max. length 3.5 km).
Previous knowledge is not required.
Participation is open to all ages, the theme is suitable for a child-friendly approach. The trail is also suitable for small children.
