The castle complex on a basalt cone at the edge of the old town of Wetzlar has a varied history. Today, only the ruins of the tower remain from the castle.

Situated high above the town, one has a comprehensive view of the houses in the old town, the Lahn valley, and the hills of the Lahn-Dill highlands.
