On this circular hike, you will experience up close the exciting history of the former, massive fortress Mont Royal, which King Louis XIV once built starting in 1687 with his genius architect Vauban on the peninsula hill high above Traben. Destroyed again by the French in 1698, excavations based on original plans from Paris archives could only be conducted on Mont Royal in the last century.
Equipped with flashlights, you will hike with our guide through the fortress ruins and can closely discover the remaining structural remnants of the massive walls, casemates, and cellar vaults.
Please pay attention to good or sturdy footwear – participation is at your own risk.
