GV Glatt&Verkehrt 2026

The renowned Krems Music Festival invites you to its anniversary. Since 1997, musicians from all over the world have come to Krems and the surrounding area every July to surprise, captivate, and inspire their audience for more than two weeks at various idyllic festival venues. Even the pandemic could not change that.

The anniversary edition features 17 concerts with musical ideas from 13 countries and 4 continents – showcasing all the ingredients that Glatt & Verkehrt has been known for over the past 30 years: discovering and bringing "musical truffles" (Der Standard) to Krems, initiating special programs or premieres, and bringing back celebrated bands from previous years with new programs.

Austrian debuts in 2026 include the English band Honeyfeet with the charismatic singer Ríoghnach Connolly (July 22), the large Berlin-West Africa project Le Mali 70 (July 23), and the Franco-Colombian band leader Ëda Diaz (July 25). Local musicians have again received special commissions: singer and composer Anja Om will present a song program for its premiere, inspired by legendary colleagues from Björk to Nina Simone, featuring new songs with a prominent band specially assembled for this occasion. The premiere will take place on July 24 at the Winzer Krems in Sandgrube 13.

The five-day program at this venue will also open with a premiere: "wia i tua" - the CD release of the new program by Die Strottern & Blech. From the creative experimental field of the music workshop (which will take place this year from July 11-17 with around 80 participants, including the legendary public workshop reprises, again in Göttweig), the team of speakers will emerge this time: The Göttweiger Sieben will give a concert together in the Klangraum Krems Minoritenkirche (July 11): Swedish folk music meets singer-songwriter, yodeling meets Yiddish song.

The atmospheric Minoritenkirche in Krems-Stein will be the venue for the first weekend. The festival will be opened there the day before, on July 10, with an NÖ Festival and Kino GmbH, Minoritenplatz 5, 3500 Krems an der Donau, press information as of April 15, 2026 (subject to change).

30th edition! July 10 - 26, 2026 Krems / Göttweig. The ensemble, whose debut in 2018 – back then on the stage of the Winzer – left a lasting impression: This is How we Fly from Ireland/USA/Sweden.

For the exuberant festival finale on July 26, two almost legendary bands from the Glatt & Verkehrt universe will perform: the Finnish band Värttinä and the Romanian brass band Fanfare Ciocărlia. This legendary formation is as old (or young) as the festival itself, but will actually come to Glatt & Verkehrt for the first time in 2026.

In addition to established venues, the Gothic Ursulakapelle in the heart of Krems will be included as a new location (July 25 and 26). In intimate solo settings, cellist Asja Valčić and trombonist Bertl Mütter will perform several short concerts.

Since 2018, the Gasthaus Salzstadl has been the venue for a small, particularly popular series: Tafelmusik will take place twice on July 23 and 24, featuring Austrian acts and a corresponding lunch.

Before all Winzer concerts, there will again be introductory artist talks (Note: Reservation of numbered tickets required!). Ö1, a festival partner from the very beginning, will again be present at all concerts in Sandgrube 13.

The complete program with detailed texts and information is now available online. On May 24 at 4:30 PM, there will be a publicly accessible program presentation with live music by Anja Om and Die Strottern at the Wiener Radiokulturhaus.
