In his works, Wolfgang Maria Reiter writes the same text that has not let him go since his early childhood. Through constant repetition, the actual content of the text recedes into the background; the writing becomes a means of design, and the act of writing transforms into a repetitive, meditative process. The meaning always resonates, but the central focus of the works is the form. Reiter employs a continuous line of interconnected letters to create his images in various formats through writing. These range from miniatures to three-dimensional letter objects that he folds and shapes from written paper. Wolfgang Maria Reiter writes with wooden sticks and ink on transparent paper. The act of writing becomes a projection surface for the artist's feelings and moods; Norbert Trawöger refers to his works as "seismographic calligraphies."
