Katharina Straßer - Actress by Passion
Katharina Andrea Straßer was born in 1984 in Rum, Tyrol. She grew up in a theater family—her grandparents Hubert Mann and Liselotte Schmidt were also actors—and discovered her passion for the stage at an early age. After completing her schooling, she moved to the capital city to study acting at the Vienna Conservatory. At the age of 22, Kathi Straßer accepted an engagement at the Vienna Volkstheater, followed by the Theater der Jugend, Theater in der Josefstadt, the Wiener Lustspielhaus, and the Volksoper Vienna. Her big breakthrough came quickly: in the 2006/2007 season, Kathi Straßer played Vicki in Michael Frayn's "Noises Off" and Mizi Schlager in "Liebelei" by Arthur Schnitzler.

Beloved by Audience and Jury
For the latter role, she received the Nestroy Award for Best Newcomer. With spectacular performances such as Eliza in "My Fair Lady" at the Vienna Volksoper or as Lola in "The Blue Angel" and Annie in "Anatol" at the Theater in der Josefstadt, Kathi Straßer firmly established herself in the Austrian acting scene. She received the Karl-Skraup Award twice: in 2006 for outstanding acting performance as a newcomer and in 2009 in the category of Audience Favorite.

Successful in Films and Series
Alongside her theater career, Kathi Straßer was drawn to television early on, gaining wider recognition in shows such as "Griechenland," "Love Machine," "Schnell ermittelt," and "Die Detektive." In 2018, she became a permanent member of the guessing team on the ORF comedy quiz show "Was gibt es Neues?"

Always Something to Say
As a host, Kathi Straßer has numerous engagements to look back on: from 2016 to 2018, she co-hosted the Romy Gala with Andi Knoll, and from 2018, she hosted the ORF comedy cooking show "Meine Mama kocht besser als deine." In 2023, she presented the ORF prime time show "Hier spielt die Musik" together with Lukas Schweighofer.

And because all of this is not enough for the dynamic actress and host, who enjoys hiking and practicing yoga in her free time, Kathi Straßer also delights audiences as a singer. There is hardly a discipline in which the artist has not already excelled: musical, chanson, music cabaret... Therefore, we are particularly pleased to welcome Kathi Straßer with a band on Friday, September 27, at OVAL – The Stage in EUROPARK. Together with Geri Schuller, Hanna Pichler, Erich Buchebner, and Bernhard Egger, she presents The 50+ Years Austropop Revue, a personal and humorous journey through the history of Austrian pop music from 1970 to the present.
