In his highly amusing and pointed dialogue stories, he offers insightful glimpses into the world of the Fin de Siècle. In A Cosmopolitan Woman and Viennese Gossip, women deceitfully betray their husbands with the utmost nonchalance. In Schnitzler's one-act play cycle "Anatol," the title character loves and suffers as a lovesick Viennese bon vivant, who, despite fleeting pleasures, experiences only existential boredom as a "melancholic lover." On the stage of the Narzbergergut, Nicole Beutler and Joseph Lorenz, two TV and stage stars of our time, provide insights into the feelings of such decadence.
