Halms OPERA Feature - 400 Years of Opera History

Inspiring and with a wink, Gregor F. Waltl guides the program in the tradition of the legendary Marcel Prawy, presenting opera in a completely different way. A special highlight is the performance by chamber singer Wolfgang Bankl (Vienna State Opera), who captivates not only with his impressive voice but also with exciting insights and stories from the world of opera.

The musical program spans a wide arc – from the baroque sounds of Monteverdi and Cesti to the classics and romanticism with Gluck, Mozart, and Anton Halm, all the way to Werner Pirchner, whose works set new accents. A particular highlight: the world premiere of selected parts from Halm's opera "Marvorio," a work that is finally taking the stage.

After Gluck's "Orpheus" in 2023, the Anton Halm ChOrchester once again dedicates this event to the fascinating genre of opera.

Who was Anton Halm?
Anton Halm (1789–1862), born in Wies, was not only a respected composer and piano educator but also a contemporary of Beethoven. His life and work are at the center of the research efforts of the Anton Halm Society in Wies. For years, this society has been committed to keeping the versatile musician from Styria in memory – also through the work of the choir and orchestra known as the Anton Halm ChOrchester, which continuously brings Halm's legacy to life in impressive ways.
