Amazonia. Resistance and Hope

TOURDATA

Eybnerstraße 5, 3100 St. Pölten

The exhibition "Amazonia. Resistance and Hope" provides impressive insights into the living realities of indigenous peoples in the Brazilian Amazon region. The exhibition encourages engagement with topics such as the environment, justice, and global responsibility.

Mag.a Michaela Spritzendorfer-Ehrenhauser, an educational consultant for Welthaus and the Three Kings Action of the Catholic Youth of the Diocese of St. Pölten, documented her encounters with indigenous communities along the Iriri River in Brazil during a trip for the Diocese of St. Pölten's Lenten campaign. The images tell stories of living in harmony with nature, the challenges posed by exploitation, and their efforts for self-determination and the protection of the rainforest.

The images are complemented by Arpilleras, a unique collection of textile art created by women from the "Movement of People Affected by Dams" (MAB). These works depict moving stories of loss and displacement, but also of resilience, solidarity, and resistance.
