St. Florianer Brucknertage: Organ Tour

On September 4, 1869, the Linzer Volksblatt reported on Anton Bruckner's organ playing in the parish church of his birthplace, Ansfelden: “...the master delighted us with the performance of an organ fantasy that was outstanding in every respect!” He had at his disposal an organ built by Josef Breinbauer (1807 – 1882). This single-manual instrument with 11 stops was constructed in 1864 by this founder of the significant Breinbauer organ-building family.

Ansfelden thus marks the beginning of our "Organ Tour," with our second stop in Maria Laah (Parish of Wolfern). There, we also find a similarly arranged organ from the Breinbauer family of Ottensheim. These parallels prompt us to present these musical jewels to you, dear fellow travelers. It is not recorded whether Anton Bruckner played the organ here.

It is a special honor and distinction for us that the new provost of the St. Florian Monastery, who is a recognized expert as a former monastery organist in St. Florian, will present these two instruments as part of the program!

To conclude the "Organ Tour," there will be a culinary finale in a traditional Upper Austrian "Wirtshaus."
