VIDA ARGENTINO
Tango and the Magical Vitality of Argentina
Nicole Nau & Luis Pereyra with Company
In 2027, the Argentine dance and music show VIDA will return to Vienna. At the forefront are the world stars Nicole Nau & Luis Pereyra, accompanied by their company of outstanding soloists.
Ocaso Amarillo - Jorge Luis Borges described in his writings the pale yellow stripe of sky as darkness descends over the outskirts of the city. It is the moment when the characters of the tango awaken and embark on their journey into the magical night. Through music, dance, and poetry, Nau and Pereyra showcase the incredible diversity of Argentine culture in their new program. Malevos, Compadres, Compadritos, Gauchos, and Chinas come to life. Heels and foot edges strike the ground. Soles shuffle. Dresses rustle. Eyes meet. The dancers sharply place their steps into the space between their partner's legs, whose waist draws artistic eights, while Boleadoras whiz through the air. Guitar sounds and drums fill the atmosphere. Singing and storytelling weave through the events. The stage is enchanted by Argentine passion. Magically, boldly, and spontaneously, men and women dance the magic of the past, daring the embrace of true tango and the duel of the future.
Texts by Jorge Luis Borges
Music by Astor Piazzolla
Original compositions by Luis Pereyra and a prestigious array of Argentine popular music.
Luis Pereyra is a dancer, choreographer, director, singer, and performer. The multi-talented artist from Argentina has been dancing since the age of five and has been enchanting audiences worldwide for over 50 years with charm, elegance, versatility, and passion from the very first moment of the show.
His wife, Nicole Nau, embodies tango like no one else. The Düsseldorfer is an ambassador for her chosen homeland of Argentina and has even been featured on two postage stamps celebrating her passion for tango. She narrates in poetic passages about the mystery, about the roots, about the poetry of brave men and the strength of proud women.
In June 2025, the first joint book by Nicole Nau & Luis Pereyra, "The Sound of My Earth," was published. This book weaves itself as a common thread throughout the work.
