Festival for Contemporary Circus
On three evenings, the GOISERN macht CIRCUS FESTIVAL for Contemporary Circus invites children, teenagers, and adults to be touched, surprised, and inspired. The so-called Cirque nouveau combines acrobatics with theater, dance, and music – telling stories that resonate deeply.
The festival kicks off on Wednesday, August 12, with an atmospheric CIRCUS FEST featuring live music, snacks, and initial artistic insights at the festival grounds.
On Thursday, August 13, the Austrian company Fenfire will take the stage. In their piece centered around the theme of stability, the artists embark on an exciting balancing act between order and chaos. Through experimental object manipulation and a lot of sensitivity, they create a virtuosic yet playful experience about balance, cohesion – and the surprisingly significant role of "sticks."
Afterward, Austrian clown and artist Christoph Schiele tells the story of a traveler and his best friend, an umbrella, in his piece "The Cloud Maker": a tale about friendship, hope, and the joy of dreaming.
Friday, August 14, promises pure diversity: A workshop in "stick manipulation" for all levels invites participants to explore their acrobatic skills in the morning.
In the evening, Tanja Simma, alias Anna de Lirium, is sure to get the laughter muscles working with her quirky one-woman show. Following that, Cie Zalatai presents a poetic encounter between two artists – an acrobat and a juggler – who playfully and touchingly approach each other.
All festival evenings will be opened by "GmC Lighthouse," a young circus group from the region, showcasing that "You can't" was yesterday – today is circus!
