What actually happened? Just a few years ago, RIAN was a promising newcomer, and today he is one of the most influential voices in German-speaking pop. When "Schwarzes Schaf" went viral in 2023, it was a taste of what was to come: RIAN, who simultaneously made his breakthrough as a successful comedy influencer, possesses a zeitgeist and unembarrassed mainstream compatibility.
With this, RIAN has also found his style: He combines German-language indie pop with smart comedy and always conveys a socially and politically relevant message for a good cause in his output. His songs are whimsical gems that stand in the tradition of KAFFKIEZ, Danger Dan, Antilopen Gang, Falco, Manu Chao, or Jonathan Richman – upfront, they are quite funny and danceable, while also being deep, (self-)critical, and always empathetic. The pop line from the feet to the heart to the head has rarely felt so right.
With "Verwandtschaftstreffen," he achieved a major breakthrough in 2024: millions of streams, chart-topping positions, awards, and an enormous presence on the radio made the song one of the defining German-language pop tracks of the year. His debut album has since been released, impressively underscoring that RIAN is more than just a viral moment – he is an artist with a clear vision and sustainable success.
What was hinted at on streaming platforms was confirmed live: After a completely sold-out "Verwandtschaftstreffen Tour 2025," RIAN continued his momentum into 2025/2026 – with a nearly fully sold-out tour through Germany and Austria. Numerous dates were rescheduled, additional shows were added, and even venues with capacities of up to 4,000 attendees filled up effortlessly. RIAN has firmly established himself as an outstanding live act, whose shows are equally energetic and humorous. In Austria, he is recognized in supermarkets, and a fan selfie with him or "a video for the third cousin" is no longer unusual.
A special highlight is set for the end of 2026: With his Christmas show at the Brucknerhaus in Linz, RIAN will swap mulled wine for guitars and deliver perhaps the most charming year-end conclusion of the live season. Between new songs, fan favorites, and spontaneous comedy moments, the Brucknerhaus will transform into a family holiday celebration. Those who want to know how indie pop, cabaret, and Christmas spirit get along will find a pretty convincing answer here.
