When the nationwide UNESCO World Heritage Day takes place once a year, Trier traditionally has a good laugh: no other city in Germany has as many ancient world heritage sites as the former Roman capital on the Moselle. And at the same time, in hardly any other city does the visitor find such a diverse world heritage in such a small area: Porta Nigra and basilica, cathedral and Liebfrauenkirche, Kaiser- and Barbarathermen, amphitheater and Roman bridge: almost every hundred meters Trier offers buildings that are made to amaze. They take centre stage on UNESCO World Heritage Day.
