Spark Sisters - Feminist Cabaret

Barbara Blaha is one of the most influential voices for social justice and progressive economic policy in the German-speaking world. Growing up in Vienna-Simmering as the second of seven children in a working-class family, she became politically active at an early age. As a student, she founded her own newspaper.

While studying German philology at the University of Vienna, she quickly rose to become the chairperson of the Austrian Student Union. In 2008, she initiated the political congress Momentum, followed by the Momentum Institute and the Moment Magazine in 2019, which are now central institutions for evidence-based economic and social policy analysis and reporting in Austria.

As an author, think tank leader, and speaker, Blaha explains economic power relations in an understandable and pointed manner. Her focus is on making social inequality visible, breaking political narratives, and amplifying voices that are often unheard. In addition to her analytical work, Blaha regularly takes the stage. With "Feminism for All," she captivates thousands and brings feminist and social policy topics to the cabaret stage with humor, toughness, and scientific precision. Starting in spring 2026, her new stage program "Spark Sisters," which is based on her number-one bestseller "Spark Sisters – How Feminism Makes Everything Better," will follow.

To this day, she shapes the content direction of the Momentum Institute and is regarded as one of the sharpest and most visible analytical voices in the country – both on paper and on stage.
