Virtuoso lute music with active participation from string instruments was his specialty. He is among the last and simultaneously most significant lutenists of the Baroque period and carries the theorbo version (with a long neck) of the instrument into the 18th century. There, it continues to live on today in Schrammel music. Karl Kohaut's melodies are as popular as they are captivatingly modern. He effortlessly overcomes technical barriers, delighting even the most discerning audiences. He gives the string players the most grateful tasks – music of the finest quality!
