A special concert evening in the parish church of Maria Attersee combines Baroque music with literary texts from the 17th century. The focus is on the writer and composer Johann Beer, who hails from the Attergau region, and whose works tell of tumultuous times marked by religious conflicts and societal upheaval.

The Austrian Baroque Company brings to life music by Johann Jakob Froberger, Johann Heinrich Schmelzer, Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber, and other masters using historical instruments. The colorful sound world of the Baroque becomes vibrant and immediately tangible.

The internationally renowned actor Michael Maertens reads from Beer's writings such as "Der verliebte Europäer" (The Lovesick European) and "Die kurzweiligen Sommertage" (The Amusing Summer Days). This creates an impressive dialogue between music and word – and a lively insight into the history of the region around Lake Attersee.
