Day of the Sword - Reichenstein Castle

Come and experience the sword!
We are a group of about 20 people from Switzerland, Germany, and Austria who have been meeting annually at Reichenstein Castle since 2014. We use the wonderful backdrop of the castle for an intensive training week in a Spartan style, with a lot of effort and little luxury.
The fascination with swords has accompanied humanity for a long time. In books and films, swords are wielded by heroes. Both children and adults are enchanted by the danger of sharpened steel, the symbolic power of the European longsword, and the elegance of the movements. On the "Day of the Sword," we want to give space to this fascination. A colorful array of different activities related to the sword will be offered: from presentations based on over 600-year-old fencing manuals to the introduction of a modern sport (HEMA) that uses the sword as a sporting device, as well as the examination of an original find in the castle museum. One thing is clear to us: at least once in a lifetime, one should have held a sword in their hand. Feel the weight of the blade. Fulfill the desire to swing the blade.
