Frankie and Freddie Lehmann, two brothers from Bremen, in West Berlin, in 1980. While one has been trying to establish himself in Kreuzberg for weeks, the other wants to move on to New York but first had to stay at a probation hotel on Ku'damm and serve as a guinea pig for antidepressants. Now, one day before Christmas Eve, he is afraid of people, can no longer take the subway, and loses an important bag.
Sven Regener sends the two on an odyssey through a city caught between worlds in his new novel "Frankie and Freddie," a place of fun and coldness, defiance and anarchy, resignation and the will to survive.
