After more than three decades of stage absence, a band that once set out with passion, courage, and big dreams to conquer the music world is returning: Sawadee is back – and with them comes a sound that touches, excites, and provokes thought.
Founded in 1988 by Edi Reininger, Viktor Scheiber, Rudolf Winglhofer, and Max Kral, Sawadee was from the very beginning more than just a band. The four musicians consciously chose to leave their familiar paths behind to dedicate themselves entirely to music. With their first song "Fly High," they made a clear statement: This is about emotion, freedom, and the courage to forge one's own path. They followed up with other titles like "Love and Dreams," "Believe In," "What’s Going Wrong," and "Tell Me," which quickly demonstrated that Sawadee had a knack for catchy melodies and profound lyrics. However, as often happens in life, the paths of the musicians diverged in 1992. Each tried to develop in their own way, some even as solo artists. Yet the time they spent together remained unforgettable – as did the special musical chemistry that characterized Sawadee.
More than 30 years later, in 2025, a chance reunion occurred. And suddenly, it was back: the energy, the connection, the passion for music. It quickly became clear that this story was not yet finished. The decision was made – Sawadee is returning to the stage. Now it is finally happening: On July 23 and 24, 2026, the band will celebrate its grand comeback at the Tonkeller of the Kunsthaus Horn. Two evenings dedicated to honest, handcrafted music. Sawadee will not only bring back their well-known songs but also new impulses, matured perspectives, and a palpable joy in making music together. Sawadee stands for music that brings joy, connects people, and simultaneously provokes thought. It is this special blend of feeling, authenticity, and energy that makes their performances an experience.
Anyone who wants to not just hear music but feel it should not miss this return. Sawadee is ready – and the stage is waiting.
