Chamber music is, for me, the most personal form of making music. No large orchestra, no distance – but an immediate dialogue, a shared breath, a listening to the finest nuances. It is this special closeness that we want to make palpable in this festival. Look forward to three diverse concert evenings!

I would like to warmly invite you again this year to our festival "Chamber Music at the Vituskircherl" – three atmospheric summer evenings at the end of August, themed "In the Folk Style." In the special, idyllic atmosphere of the Vituskircherl, we will explore together how folk music has always been rooted in various forms of social life – and how it has found its way into the art music of past eras, where it continues to live on and has been shaped in diverse ways.

Folk music has never been just "a style," but an expression of everyday life, celebration, dance, and community. It is precisely this authenticity that has inspired composers of the Classical and Romantic periods: they take melodies, rhythms, and characters, further shape them, and let them appear in their works in a new, artistic context.

It is very important to me in this year's program to make these connections audible – between lived musical tradition and elaborated composition, between original sound and refined language of form. This year, you can again expect a varied, multifaceted, and very personal festival program!
