Seamus Blake is a saxophonist and composer living in New York, regarded as one of the leading figures in contemporary jazz. Known for his sophistication, bold improvisations, and captivating stage presence, he has been described by John Scofield as "extraordinary – a true saxophonist." Seamus grew up in Vancouver and studied at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. In 2002, he won the prestigious Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition. As a bandleader or co-leader, he has released 16 albums and is featured on over 70 others as a sideman. Seamus regularly appears at international jazz festivals and collaborates with artists such as John Scofield, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Dave Douglas, Bill Stewart, and many others.
