The trotting track in Baden near Vienna is considered the most beautiful historic summer racecourse in Europe, with the founding of the trotting association taking place as early as 1892. As the financially well-off audience from Vienna was drawn to the south during the summer months, the idea of hosting trotting races in Baden emerged. The first race day was held in 1893, and in 1895, the association hosted the "Championship of Europe" for the first time, which quickly became the most significant race on the continent, attracting the elite of European trotters each year. Even today, the audience is as close to the fast-paced racehorses as nowhere else.
The season opening for 2026 will take place on Sunday, May 31, starting at 3:30 PM, featuring a celebrity race in support of the charitable initiative "Artists Help Artists."
