The Montafon in Postcards and Photographs by Foto Wolf

Starting July 2026, a new photo exhibition will be on display at the Montafon Heritage Museum in Schruns. Using four projectors, postcard motifs from the Montafon region, dating from the 1930s to the turn of the millennium, will be projected on the walls in large format. The thematic focuses include not only views of towns and landscapes but also the tourist transformation and the glass plate negatives, whose digital reproductions depict the Montafon in sharp detail during the second third of the 20th century. Additionally, a video station will feature Heinz Wolf, who took over the photo studio founded by his father, Theo Wolf, in 1936 and continued to run it until his retirement in 2006. The postcard collection was handed over to the Montafon Archive by him at the end of 2024, where the more than 2,500 negatives and postcards have since been digitized. The highlights of this collection will now be showcased in the new special exhibition, inviting visitors on a photographic journey through the Montafon in the 20th century. Starting September 2026, a small branch of the exhibition will also be on display at the Montafon Frühmesshaus in Bartholomäberg, focusing on motifs from Bartholomäberg and its surrounding area.
