Viktor Gernot - A Night Before Christmas

An evening of songs to celebrate the pre-Christmas season with Christmas songs and Advent stories and satires. Curated, compiled, and sung by the Austrian grandmaster of Christmas concerts, Viktor Gernot. Accompanied on the piano by his friend and long-time musical partner, the brilliant master of all 88 keys, Prof. Aaron Wonesch. Since the early 1990s, Viktor Gernot has been performing swinging Advent concerts. Starting from small clubs like Roter Engel, through the truly legendary series of performances in all federal states, at the Kabarett Simpl and later at Casanova Vienna, to the Ronacher Vienna, or even the Stadthalls in Graz and Vienna. Previously with Viktor Gernot's Best Friends, his long-standing band. Always with unmistakable, original arrangements of the exclusive song selection from the Great American Christmas Songbook, mixed with selected poems and stories, presented in the famous tone of the protagonist. Often copied, never matched. In all these projects, Aaron has been an indispensable pianist. And so, the two come together in December 2026 to interpret the swinging, jazzy, and sometimes balladic songs together. The enthusiasm and love with which Viktor Gernot first heard "White Christmas" in the Hollywood film "Holiday Inn" as a child is the foundation of this concert night. His first LP under the Christmas tree was once Bing Crosby's "White Christmas." In all the decades since, this enthusiasm has developed into true expertise and artistry through countless concerts and the study of Christmas literature, both literary and musical.
