Assuming we take a feminist perspective on Shakespeare's popular comedy. "A Midsummer Night's Dream" makes visible how strongly women are constrained by patriarchal structures, while simultaneously opening up spaces where the female characters rebel against these limitations. Hermia struggles with her father's choice of partner, Helena rises against her dependency, and Titania must assert herself against Oberon. The production focuses on the power dynamics and gender roles within the play; on the tension between oppression and self-empowerment. The loss of female self-determination is countered by solidarity and feminist resistance. This year, the ensemble is supported by the choir Die Buntmeisen.
