A faithful replica of the "BAPTISMAL CERTIFICATE OF AMERICA" from 1507 is located at Waldburg Castle—without the Waldburgers, this World Documentary Heritage would have been lost forever!
On the OBSERVATION DECK on the roof of the Waldburg, you stand at the highest point in Upper Swabia and enjoy a panoramic view stretching from Lake Constance across the Alps to the surrounding countryside. Here lies a FIRST-ORDER TRIGONOMETRIC POINT. In 1818, the Kingdom of Württemberg was surveyed from the Waldburg.
The PHOTO SHOOTING ROOM houses a veritable treasure trove of armor, chain mail, dresses, medieval garments, headwear, and accessories. Best of all: you can try everything on. Fun souvenir photos are guaranteed here!
Here, the path to the castle is a destination in itself: The THEMED STELE TRAIL on the Burgsteig, a loop trail that can be walked at your own pace and explores the history of the region, the Waldburg, and the Middle Ages in general. A quiz, suitable for children, is included here. Hiking and learning form a wonderful combination here.
