On the OBSERVATION DECK on the roof of the Waldburg, you’ll find yourself at the highest point in Upper Swabia and enjoy a panoramic view stretching from Lake Constance across the Alps to the surrounding countryside. The PHOTO SHOOTING ROOM houses a veritable treasure trove of armor, chain mail, dresses, medieval garments, headwear, and accessories. Best of all: You can try everything on. Fun souvenir photos are guaranteed here!
For us, the path to the castle is already a worthwhile destination: The THEMATIC STELE TRAIL on the Burgsteig, a loop trail that can be walked at your own pace and explores the history of the region, the Waldburg, and the Middle Ages in general. A quiz, suitable for children, is included here. Hiking and learning form a wonderful combination here.
Although we are a historic hilltop castle, the climb is easy to manage: from the parking lot at Amtzeller Straße 7, the castle is only about 300 meters away and involves an elevation gain of 48 meters.
