Special tour "The Kraichgauers on Steinsberg Hill"

500 years ago, people throughout the country experienced the horrors and misery of the Peasants’ War. Castle guide Marita Hesch, portraying the historical figure of Agnes von Venningen, recounts these events and what took place at Steinsberg Castle during that time. Agnes was the wife of Ludwig von Venningen, who, together with his brother Hippolyt, had acquired the castle from Elector Ludwig V (*1478 – †1544) in 1517, according to a deed. The tour takes you back to a time when serfdom dominated the daily life of the common man. It explains why the uprisings occurred, which ultimately led to the so-called Peasants’ War. It also addresses the impact on Steinsberg Castle and the suppression of the peasant uprising.
