The journey to Weyher, whether via Rhodt or Burrweiler, already takes you through one of the most beautiful sections of the German Wine Route.
Those who are lucky enough to arrive on time can enjoy the view of the Rhine plain at sunset. This is quite possible, as the wine festival mile begins right at the first houses that border the vineyards.
The best way to enjoy the open view is with a glass of sparkling wine in hand. Or with a glass of festival wine, which is served for free on Friday evening during the opening – while supplies last.
The wine princess opens the wine festival with the local mayor. After that, over four days, around ten serving stations in the wineries and a wine tasting booth from the young winemakers open along the street.
Every evening, plenty of music is offered at the first winery right at the entrance of the festival mile. Those who do not indulge too much at the wine tasting booth along the slightly sloping path from yard to yard can also find quieter courtyards with a selected, daily changing food offering.
Since Weyher is surrounded not only by vineyards but also by plenty of Palatinate Forest, the menu also features wild boar roast alongside the Riesling ham.
